You can use the management GUI or
the command-line interface (CLI) to administer your system.
Managing the system
You can use the command-line interface (CLI) to manage your system.
Managing security
The system supports several security-related features that can help protect system data and resources from unauthorized access.
Managing call home notifications
The system supports sending notifications to support personnel through cloud service or through a local email server. You can use either the management GUI or the command-line interface to change current setting call home notifications.
Managing support assistance Support assistance enables support personnel to access the system to complete troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. You can configure either local support assistance, where support personnel visit your site to fix problems with the system, or remote support assistance. Both local and remote support assistance uses secure connections to protect data exchange between the support center and system. More access controls can be added by the system administrator.
Managing MDisks and pools
You can use the management GUI or the command line interface to work with your managed disks (MDisks) and storage pools.
Managing volumes
You can use the command-line interface (CLI) to manage volumes that you created on the system. To work with volumes in the management GUI, select Volumes.
Managing hosts
You can use several tools to manage hosts, including the management GUI, the command-line interface (CLI), and specialized utilities for working with host bus adapters. To work with hosts in the management GUI, select Hosts.
Managing host clusters A host cluster is a group of logical host objects that can be managed together. For example, you can create a volume mapping that is shared by every host in the host cluster. The system uses internal protocols to manage access to the volumes and ensure consistency of the data. Host objects that represent hosts can be grouped in a host cluster and share access to volumes. New volumes can also be mapped to a host cluster, which simultaneously maps that volume to all hosts that are defined in the host cluster.
Managing nodes
You can manage nodes with either the command-line interface or the management GUI.
Managing Copy Services
You can use the command-line interface (CLI) to manage the Copy Services features of FlashCopy, Metro Mirror, and Global Mirror.
