You can use the management GUI or the
command line interface to work with your managed disks (MDisks) and storage pools.
CLI managed disk tasks
You can use the command-line interface (CLI) to manage your managed disks. To work with MDisks in the management GUI, select Pools > MDisks by Pool.
Managing throttles for pools
You can create, modify, and remove throttles for pools by using the management GUI or the command-line interface.
Creating data reduction pools To use data reduction technologies on the system, you need to create a data reduction pool, create thin-provisioned or compressed volumes, and map these volumes to hosts that support SCSI unmap commands.
Moving volumes to a data reduction pool The system supports migrating thin-provisioned volumes in standard pools to data reduction pools using volume mirroring; however, compressed volumes cannot use volume mirroring for migration. To migrate compressed volumes you must first decompress all existing compressed volumes in standard pools in the I/O group. The volumes can then be migrated to a data reduction pool using volume mirroring.
