Indicator LEDs on the back of each Lenovo Storage V series system provide status information about the control canister and onboard ports.
For more information about the LEDs on the node canister, refer to Procedure: Understanding the system status using the LEDs. For information about the LED indicators on each optional host interface adapter, see Host interface adapter ports and indicators.
Each Lenovo Storage V series system has two onboard 1 Gbps Ethernet ports. Two LEDs above each port provide information about the link speed and activity on the Ethernet connection. Table 1 describes the LED indicators.
Name | Symbol | Color | State | Meaning |
---|---|---|---|---|
Link speed | None | Green | OFF | No link connection or the link is connected at less than 1 Gbps. |
ON | There is a 1 Gbps link connection to a remote device. | |||
Activity | None | Green | OFF | No activity. |
FLASHING | Activity on link. |
Each onboard SAS port has two LED indicators that provide information about the status of the port and connections. Table 2 describes the LED indicators.
Name | Symbol | Color | State | Meaning |
---|---|---|---|---|
Link | None | Green | OFF | No link connection on any lane (phy). |
ON | There is a connection on at least one lane (phy). | |||
Fault | None | Amber | OFF | No fault. All four phys have a link connection. |
ON | This can indicate several different error conditions: |
The battery status icons and LEDs on Lenovo Storage V series systems provide information about the status of the battery during system operations. Table 3 summarizes the battery status LED indicators.
Name | Symbol | Color | State | Meaning |
---|---|---|---|---|
Battery status | Green | FAST BLINK | The battery is charging. It does not have a sufficient charge to perform a "fire hose" dump. | |
BLINK | The battery has sufficient charge to perform one "fire hose" dump. | |||
ON | The battery is fully charged and has sufficient charge to perform two "fire hose" dumps. | |||
OFF | The battery is not available for use. | |||
Battery fault | Amber | OFF | If the LED is off, no known conditions are preventing normal operation, unless the battery status LED is also on. | |
ON | An active condition or fault could compromise normal operation. | |||
SLOW BLINK | There is a non-critical fault with the battery. | |||
Battery in use | Green | OFF | The battery is not being used to power the canister. | |
FAST BLINK | The battery is currently providing power for a "fire hose" dump. |
The node canisters system icons and LEDs on each Lenovo Storage V series system provide information about the status of the node canister itself. Table 4 summarizes the status LED indicators.
Name | Symbol | Color | State | Meaning |
---|---|---|---|---|
Power | Green | OFF | No power is available or power is coming from the battery. | |
SLOW BLINK | Power is available but the main CPU is not running; the system is in standby mode. | |||
FAST BLINK | System is in self test. | |||
ON | Power is available and the system code is running. | |||
Status | Green | OFF | Indicates one of the following conditions: |
|
BLINK | The canister is in candidate or service state. It is not performing I/O. It is safe to remove the node. | |||
ON | The canister is active, able to perform I/O, or starting. The system is part of a cluster. | |||
Canister fault | Amber | OFF | The node is in candidate or active state. Any error that has been detected is not severe enough to stop the node participating in a cluster or performing I/O. | |
BLINK | The canister is being identified. There might or might not be a fault condition. | |||
ON | The node is in service state or an error exists that might be stopping the system code from starting (node error 550). The node canister cannot become active in the system until the problem is resolved. The problem is not necessarily related to a hardware component. |
