Lenovo RackSwitch G8272

The Lenovo RackSwitch G8272 is a cost-effective, enterprise class 1U 10/40GbE switch that delivers exceptional performance, being lossless and low latency. The G8272 includes 48 x 1/10GbE SFP/SFP+ ports and 6 x 40GbE QSFP+ ports in a flexible 1U switch. You can scale up to 72 x 10GbE SFP+ connections with optional breakout cables. Two flavors of operating system are supported on the G8272:

  • Cloud Network Operating System (CNOS)

    • The new Lenovo Cloud Network Operating System provides a simple, open and programmable network infrastructure designed to scale for your business needs. Its intelligent, cloud-scale performance delivers a software-defined Ethernet solution that is simple to manage and easy to deploy using common management tools. Cloud NOS 10 is based on open, industry standards for better data center interoperability and it enables support of automation and orchestration applications for tight integration into the data center ecosystem.

    With its high-performance architecture and support for an extensive set of routing protocols, Cloud NOS 10 provides a reliable, high-performance fabric for traditional, converged and hyperscale solutions.

  • Enterprise Network Operating System (ENOS)

    • ENOS has a feature-rich design with key virtualization features, such as CEE/FCoE, high availability, and enterprise class Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality. The G8272 supports many value added features for modern cloud deployments including unified fabric port (UFP) to help improve performance and availability when using virtual NICs. UFP allows a 10GbE SFP+ port to be carved into as many as 4 virtual ports with the throughput speed of each port controlled by the switch.

    ENOS supports OpenFlow which helps easily create software defined virtual networks (SDN) and enables a remote controller to modify the behavior of network devices. The G8272 supports VXLAN, in hardware, for network virtualization through overlays helping deliver faster reliable on demand capabilities.

    ENOS on G8272 can help your data center evolve to a higher level by helping you to consolidate server and storage networks into a single fabric. Converged enhanced Ethernet can help deliver value for your iSCSI, NAS and FCoE enterprise storage environments.
