Removing a remotely installed RAID adapter battery

Use this information to remove a RAID adapter battery remotely in the server.

To remove the RAID adapter battery from the RAID battery tray, complete the following steps:

  1. Read the safety information that begins in Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. Turn off the server (see Turning off the server) and all attached peripheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables as necessary to replace the device.
  3. Remove the server cover (see Removing the server top cover).
  4. Remove PCI riser-card assembly 2 (see Removing a PCI riser-card assembly).
  5. From the top of safety cover, press the release latch to open the battery tray cover and press the release tab to open the retention clip that holds the battery in place.

  6. Lift the battery from the RAID battery tray.
  7. Disconnect the remote battery cable from the remote battery cable connector to the ServeRAID adapter.
