POST

When you turn on the server, it performs a series of tests to check the operation of the server components and some optional devices in the server. This series of tests is called power-on self-test, or POST.

Note
You cannot view the server status through beep codes.

If a power-on password is set, you must type the password when required and then press Enter to allow the POST to start running.

If a problem is detected during the POST, an error message is displayed on the screen and also sent to the POST event log. For more information, see UEFI (POST) error codes.

If POST detects a problem, an error message is sent to the POST event log. For more information, see Event logs.
