The WWPN numbering scheme that is employed on Lenovo Storage V7000 Gen1 node canisters helps you easily identify which physical ports are connected to your Fibre Channel (FC) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) SAN.
Each WWNN and WWPN is composed from the components that are described in Table 1.
Common prefix | Port number | Node-specific component | |
---|---|---|---|
Value or format | 5005 0768 02 | P p (5 bits) | nnn NNNN (19 bits) |
Meaning (all models) | The first 10 digits of the name always contain this value. | The 11th digit identifies the port as it appears at the rear of a node canister. Values 1, 2, 3 or 4 indicate FC ports 1 - 4. The first bit of the 12th digit also forms part of the port number. It is zero for ports that appear on the rear of a node canister. |
The final three bits and 4 digits contain a value that is unique to each node canister slot manufactured. |
(Models 312/324) | Values 5 and 6 indicate FCoE ports 1 and 2. |
Table 2 shows an example of WWPNs for ports 1 and 2.
Node canister | Interface type | Port | WWPN |
---|---|---|---|
1 | FC | 1 | 5005 0768 0210 14a2 |
2 | FCoE | 2 | 5005 0768 0260 14a3 |
When a host is cabled directly to an FC port of a Lenovo Storage V7000 Gen1 node canister, other similarly formatted WWPNs are exposed by the Fibre Channel services necessary for direct attachment.
