Configuring Nexsan SATABeast systems

To use this external storage, you must configure Nexsan SATABeast systems for attachment to a Lenovo Storage V7000.

The Nexsan SATABeast system must use a firmware level that is supported by the Lenovo Storage V7000. The current level is Nt66E.

Concurrent maintenance is the ability to complete I/O operations on a Nexsan SATABeast while simultaneously completing maintenance on it.
User interfaces on the Nexsan SATABeast
NexScan is the Nexsan's web-enabled GUI. NexScan provides access to your SATABeast system from any standard internet browser or host computer, either directly connected or connected through a LAN or WAN.
Logical unit creation, deletion, and migration for Nexsan SATABeast systems
Before you create, delete, and migrate logical units for the Nexsan SATABeast, read the storage configuration guidelines specified in the Nexsan SATABeast documentation that is provided for this system.
Sharing the Nexsan SATABeast between a host and the Lenovo Storage V7000
You must configure your environment so that only the Lenovo Storage V7000 can access all logical units on the Nexsan SATABeast. You can zone other hosts to communicate with the Nexsan SATABeast for in-band configuration, but nothing else.
Quorum disks on the Nexsan SATABeast
The Lenovo Storage V7000 can use logical units (LUs) that are exported by the Nexsan SATABeast as quorum disks.
Advanced functions for the Nexsan SATABeast
Nexsan advanced functions are not supported with Lenovo Storage V7000.
