Multipathing in VMware supports several paths.
VMware supports three types of multiple paths:
- Fixed path
- The I/O
initiates access from the path that is initially selected,
and switches to a different path if problems are encountered.
- Most Recently Used Path
- VMware uses
the most recently used path, and switches to a different
path if problems are encountered.
- Round Robin
- VMware accesses the different paths available at fixed
intervals.
VMWare 4.0 enables native multipathing
by default. In that configuration,
only one disk drive is listed regardless of the number of paths that
are available to it.
