To use this external storage, you must use the HP 3PAR Storage System
management console to configure settings and options to use with the system.
The management console enables the intuitive setup of the HP 3PAR Storage System LUNs and exports
to the clustered system.
Logical unit options and settings for HP 3PAR Storage
System
From the HP 3PAR Storage System management
console, the following dialog of options are involved in setting up
of logical units:
Creation of common provisioning groups (CPG)
The set up of common provisioning groups (CPGs).
Note: If you
are using the Easy Tier function, do not mix LUNs with
different performance in the same system storage pool.
Setup of ports
Each designated host ports
should be set to
Mode: point.
- Connection mode: host
- Connection type: point
Setup of host
Set the host persona set to 6 - Generic Legacy for these
series and models: - HP 3PAR F-Class (Models 200 and 400)
- HP 3PAR T-Class (Models 400 and 800)
- HP 3PAR StoreServ 1000 series
- HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 series
- HP 3PAR StoreServ 8000 series
- HP 3PAR StoreServ 20000 series
All system ports need to be included.
LUN creation
- Size limitations:
- 256 MB minimum
- Greater than 2 TB LUNs are supported (1 PB is the system limit)
- Provisioning:
- Fully provisioned from CPG
- Thinly provisioned
- CPG: Choose provisioning group for new LUN, usually R1, R5, R6
or drive specific.
- Allocation warning: Level at which warning is given (%) (optional)
- Allocation limit: Level at which TP allocation is stopped (%)
(optional)
- Grouping: For creating multiple sequential LUNs in a set (integer
value between 1 and 999)
To export LUNs to the system, select the host definition that was created for the system.
