The format and content of the Fibre Channel port identifier are determined by the manufacturer of the link control
facility for the applicable Fibre Channel port.
The identifier is an eight-byte field, which the Fibre Channel protocols use to uniquely identify the Fibre Channel port.
The WWPN consists of 16 hexadecimal characters (0 - 9 and A - F).
The
Lenovo Storage V7000 system uses it to uniquely identify
the
Fibre Channel HBA that is installed in your
host system. The
Lenovo Storage V7000 system automatically finds the WWPN for your
host
Fibre Channel HBA when you attach your host
system to the
Lenovo Storage V7000 system.
Note: Each Fibre Channel port has a unique WWPN. There are 1 or more
ports per HBA, and therefore 1 or more WWPNs per HBA; each HBA port
has a unique WWPN that must be added to the host object.
