Installing and configuring the host bus adapter on an IBM Z® host system

The host bus adapters (HBAs) for an IBM Z® host system must be ordered as features. These features are either factory-installed when you order a new system or installed into an existing system by a service representative.

To check the installation of the HBA and to configure the HBA to work with the system, complete the following steps:
  1. Ensure that the appropriate features (FICON, FICON Express, FICON Express2, or FICON Express4) are installed on your IBM Z® host system.
  2. Configure the HBA to run in FCP mode.
