To use the SAN boot feature with an Oracle SPARC host that is connected
to the system, the boot disk must be encapsulated by the VERITAS Volume Manager. Encapsulation
places the boot disk under the management of the Volume Manager.
You must have your
VERITAS Volume Manager administration documentation
to complete the following steps.
Use these high-level
steps to ensure that your boot disk
is encapsulated by the Volume Manager:
- Configure
your HBA for SAN boot.
- Configure the host bus
adapter (HBA) for static port binding.
- Configure the volume that is to be used as your SAN boot disk, and then map the volume to the
host.
- Configure the LUNs for use with VERITAS
Volume Manager
with DMP.
- Mirror the boot volume onto the discovered LUNs by using the instructions in the VERITAS Volume
Manager administration documentation.
