You must add a service
console to this vSwitch to access
the ESX server and provide the hosts with access to the external environment.
Then, to access the internal environment, you must add a second vSwitch
and service console.
Perform the following
steps to add a service console to a
vSwitch:
- Open the vSphere Client.
- Click the Configuration tab.
- Click Networking, and then
select
the vSwitch.
- Click Properties.

- Select Service Console.
- Select Use the following
IP settings, and enter the external IP values.
This
IP setting is the management IP for the VMware vSwitch.
Important: Be sure to enter the correct values for the service
console gateway. If the wrong gateway values are entered, vSphere
is unable to access the VMware machine.
- To
set internal IP values, create a second vSwitch by following
the steps at Configuring vSwitches.
- From the vSphere Client, select the guest OS.
- Click Add.
- Click Ethernet Adapter, and click Next.
- Add the next Ethernet adapter, which is the VMware
network
in the new switch, to this guest OS.
Perform this procedure
for each guest OS.
- Add a service console to
this vSwitch by completing steps #iscsivmwareaddconsole/StepOpenTheVSphereClient. through #iscsivmwareaddconsole/StepSelectUseTheFollowingIPSet...,
entering the internal IP values.
Add
