To use the system as a boot device for a host that is running a
Microsoft Windows Server operating system, you must
configure the host.
SAN boot is not supported on all operating systems. For the latest support
information, see the following website:
https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/
Use the following steps to configure the operating system.
- Configure the system so that only the boot volume is mapped to the host.
- Configure the SAN so that the host can see only one system node port. This means that there is
only one path from the host to its boot disk.
- Configure and enable the HBA BIOS.
- Install the operating system by using the normal procedure and selecting the volume as
the partition on which to install.
- After the operating system, the subsystem device driver device-specific module (SDDDSM), or Microsoft Multipath I/O driver is installed, zoning must be
modified to allow multiple paths.
- Set redundant boot devices in the BIOS to allow the host
to boot when its original boot path has failed.
