If you are using the VERITAS Volume Manager with the Dynamic Multi-Pathing
(DMP) for multipathing support on an Oracle host, you must use these instructions to configure the
LUNs.
You can use the following steps for all HBAs
that are
used with the VERITAS Volume Manager with DMP:
- Issue the format command to check for
disks.
- If you see disks, proceed to the
next step.
- If you do not see disks, verify
the configuration of
your HBAs and clustered-system configuration
and try again.
Note: You might see a "mode sense error" that is listed for each disk when you run format for
the first time. This result is normal, and does not occur after the disks are labeled.
- Label
each device by using the Solaris operating system format command.
- Use the vxdiskadm utility to initialize the disks by completing these
steps:
- Start the vxdiskadm utility.
- From the menu, select 21 (Get the newly connected/zoned disks in VxVM
view).
- Press c to continue and then press Enter. Wait for the command to
complete.
- From the menu, select 1 (Add or initialize one or more disks) and
initialize each disk.
- Run the vxdisk list command
to see the
devices. You can now use the devices to create VERITAS Volume Manager
devices when added to a volume group.
