To create logical units, you must identify a volume from which to create the logical
unit and specify the amount of space to use.
Complete the following steps to create logical units:
- Log on to the NetApp FAS.
- Go to Filer View and authenticate.
- Click Volumes and identify a volume to use to create an LU.
A list of volumes is displayed.
- Identify a volume that has sufficient free space for the LUN size that you want to
use.
The volume name is used later in Step 7.
- Click LUNs on the left panel.
- Click Add in the list.
- Enter the following information:
- In the Path field, enter
/vol/volx/lun_name
Where volx is the name of the volume from Step 4 and
lun_name is a generic name.
- In the LUN Protocol Type field, enter
Linux.
- Leave the Description field blank.
- In the Size field, enter a LUN size.
- In the Units field, enter the LUN size in units.
- Select the Space Reserved box.
Note: If the Space Reserved box is not selected and the file system is full, the LUN goes
offline. The storage pool also goes offline and you cannot access the
volumes.
- Click Add.
Note: To check the LUN settings, go to the Manage LUNs section and click the
LUN you want to view. Ensure that the Space Reserved setting is
set.
