Follow these restrictions when you share EMC Symmetrix and Symmetrix DMX systems between
a host and the
system.
An EMC Symmetrix or Symmetrix DMX system can be shared between a host and the
system
under the following conditions:
- When possible, avoid sharing target ports between the
system and other hosts. If you cannot avoid this situation, you must regularly
check the combined I/O workload that is generated by the system and the other hosts. The performance
of either the system or of the hosts is affected if the workload exceeds the target port
capabilities.
- A single host must not be connected to both the
system and
an EMC Symmetrix or Symmetrix DMX because the multipathing drivers (for example, subsystem device
driver (SDD) and PowerPath) cannot coexist.
- If the EMC Symmetrix or Symmetrix DMX is configured in such a way that other hosts cannot access
the LUs that are managed by the
system,
other hosts can be directly connected to an EMC Symmetrix or Symmetrix DMX system at the same time
as a system.
