You can install an optional 4-port 10 Gbps Ethernet host interface adapter in any system.
As 10 Gbps Ethernet host interface adapter ports shows, the optional host interface adapter has four 10 Gbps Ethernet ports. This optional host interface adapter is used for Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) connections to host systems. It can also be used to establish Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) connections to host systems or storage systems. The ports cannot be used for system management. Four 10 Gbps Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers are installed on the adapter. The transceivers support Fibre Channel cable connections to an Ethernet network.
Because each Lenovo Storage V3700 V2 or Lenovo Storage V3700 V2 XP system has two onboard Ethernet ports, the ports on the optional Ethernet card are numbered 3-6 (starting from left to right). Because each Lenovo Storage V5030 and system has three onboard Ethernet ports, the ports on the optional Ethernet card are numbered 4-7 (starting from left to right).
Each port on the 4-port 10 Gbps Ethernet adapter has two LEDs. The green LED indicates activity on the port; the amber LED indicates the link activity. Together, these LEDs provide information about the activity on, and status of, the port. LED indicators for 10 Gbps Ethernet host interface adapter summarizes the possible values.
Green LED (Port activity) | Amber LED (Link activity | Meaning |
---|---|---|
OFF | OFF | The port is not configured and the port is not active in the current profile. For example, two ports on the 4-port host interface adapter are not active. |
OFF | ON | The port is configured, but it is not connected or the negotiation of the link failed (the link is not detected at the transport layer). |
ON | OFF | The link is up and is running at the configured speed. |
ON | ON | The link is up but it is running at less than the configured (degraded) speed. |
