There are restrictions for sharing an HDS Lightning
99xxV between a host and the Lenovo Storage V series clustered system.
Sharing ports
The HDS Lightning 99
xxV can be shared between a host and the
Lenovo Storage V series system
under the following conditions:
- The same host cannot be connected to both the Lenovo Storage V series system
and an HDS Lightning at the same time because the Hitachi HiCommand
Dynamic Link Manager (HDLM) and the subsystem device
driver (SDD) cannot coexist.
- A controller port cannot be shared between a host and the Lenovo Storage V series system.
If a controller port is used by the Lenovo Storage V series system,
it must not be present in a switch zone that allows a host to access
the port.
- Logical units (LUs) cannot be shared between a host and the Lenovo Storage V series system.
Supported Topologies
You can connect the
Lenovo Storage V series system
to the HDS Lightning under the following conditions:
- For Lenovo Storage V series software
version 4.2.1 and later, you can connect a maximum of 16 HDS Lightning
ports to the Lenovo Storage V series system
without any special zoning requirements.
- For the Lenovo Storage V series system,
you can connect a maximum of 16 HDS Lightning ports to the system
without any special zoning requirements.
- For Lenovo Storage V series software
version 4.2.0, the following conditions apply:
- Logical Unit Size Expansion (LUSE) and Virtual LVI/LUN operations
cannot be run on a disk that is managed by the Lenovo Storage V series system.
LUNs that are created using LUSE and Virtual LVI/LUN can be mapped
to the system after they are created.
- Only disks with open emulation can be mapped to the Lenovo Storage V series system.
- IBM zSeries
disks cannot be used with the Lenovo Storage V series system.
- Only Fibre Channel connections can connect
the Lenovo Storage V series system to the HDS Lightning.
