Two methods are supported for
iSCSI target portal discovery:
iSNS and Send Targets discovery.
Both methods are
configured from the Discovery tab of the
iSCSI Initiator control panel module. To use the Send Targets method,
complete the following steps for each node on which you want to perform
discovery:
- From the iSCSI Initiator control
panel, click Select
iSCSI Software Adapter.
- Click Properties.
- Click Dynamic Discovery.
- Click Add.
- Enter the target IP address.
The target IP
address is the IP address of a node in the I/O group from which you
are mapping the iSCSI volume.
- Leave the IP
port number at the default value of 3260,
and click OK.
The connection between
the initiator and target is established after clicking OK.
- Click iSCSI Software Adapter.
- Right-click this tab and rescan the devices for
discovery.
The maximum number of volumes that can be mapped
to the VMware
iSCSI initiator is 256.
Note: iSNS discovery is not supported in VMware
ESX 4.
