Removing a ServeRAID adapter

Use this information to remove an IBM ServeRAID adapter.

Read the safety information in Safety and Installation guidelines.

If you are replacing a server component in the server, you need to turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.

To remove an IBM ServeRAID adapter, complete the following steps.

1. Remove the cover (see Removing the cover).
2. Remove the PCI riser-card assembly (see Removing the PCI riser-card assembly).
3. Disconnect the signal cable from the ServeRAID adapter.
4. Grasp the PCI riser-card assembly at the front grip point and rear edges and lift to remove it from the server.
5. Place the PCI riser-card assembly on a flat, static-protective surface.
6. Carefully grasp the end of the ServeRAID adapter and pull the adapter out of the connector on the PCI riser-card assembly.
