An application server is a host that is attached to the system, either by a SAN or by iSCSI, and that runs applications.
These applications can run on behalf of other hosts that are referred to as clients. Application servers access the volumes within the Lenovo Storage V7000 system, but they cannot access the managed disks (MDisks) in the RAID storage systems. Applications can directly access the volumes for blocked storage.
