CMMVC8462E: The host I/O group cannot be removed because at least one volume in the I/O group(s) being removed from the host has received I/O within the defined volume protection period.

Explanation

If volume protection is enabled, and any volumes mapped to the host in the I/O group being removed from the host have received I/O within the defined volume protection time period, then the command will fail.

This behaviour is not affected by the force flag (the force flag deletes the host from I/O groups, even if it has any vdisk mappings in those I/O groups). For example, the force flag does not override the policing.

The same behaviour as rmhost, the policing will allow the I/O group if the host is already offline and at least one other host is mapped to the volume. It does not allow the io group to be removed if the host is the only host mapped to the volume and the volume is busy.

User Response

Ensure no host I/O is being sent to the affected volumes and ensure they have waited for the defined volume protection time period or disable volume protection.
