Configuring the expansion enclosure

After you install an expansion enclosure, you must use the management GUI to configure the new enclosure.

You must use a supported web browser. Refer to Web browser requirements to access the management GUI for more information about the supported browsers.

Install all the expansion enclosures and drives you are adding before you configure the system. This sequence enables the system to make the best use of the enclosures and drives you added.
Note: If you are installing more than one expansion enclosure, do not configure the storage until all the enclosures and drives are discovered. This sequence gives you the best array configuration.
  1. If you turned off your system to install the expansion enclosure, restart it.
  2. Use the management GUI to configure the new enclosure.
    1. Select Monitoring > System.
    2. From the Actions menu, select Add Enclosures.
This wizard guides you through detecting and configuring the new enclosures.
    3. Verify that the correct enclosure and the correct number of drives have been detected.
    4. If you delayed configuring the storage, you can do it using the Configure Storage wizard on the Pools > Internal Storage page.
