Adding host interface adapters to a system

You can install optional host interface adapters in a configured system.

Refer to Host interface adapter ports and indicators for the list of supported host interface adapters.

The host interface adapters are installed in the node canisters in the control enclosure. The same options must be installed in all canisters in a control enclosure. Do not start installation until you have two host interface adapters to install.

You can install a host interface adapter while the system continues to operate using the canister that is not being updated. Remove one canister, install the option, and then reinstall the canister. After waiting for the host system multi-pathing drivers to stabilize, update the other canister in the same way. Refer to Adding two host interface adapters to an operational system for a detailed procedure.

Alternatively, you might prefer to stop the system before adding the host interface adapters (refer to Adding two host interface adapters to a powered-off system).
