Configuring

Configure host connections, nodes, systems, users, disk controllers, and event logs. Use and define configuration rules for various components of your SAN: host bus adapters (HBAs), nodes, switches, disk controllers, and Fibre Channel, iSCSI, or SAS connections.

SAN fabric function is available only if a Fibre Channel option is installed. Otherwise, this information does not apply.

You can configure either local or remote support assistance with the management GUI or the command-line interface.
Configuring encryption
To use encryption on the system, you must purchase an encryption license, activate the license on the system, enable encryption, and create copies of the keys. If you have not purchased a license, contact a customer representative to purchase an encryption license.To use encryption on the system, an encryption license is required for each enclosure that supports encryption. Only certain models support encryption.
Configuring N_Port ID Virtualization
N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) is a method for virtualizing a physical Fibre Channel port that is used for host I/O. When NPIV is enabled, ports do not come up until they are ready to service I/O, which improves host behavior around node unpends. In addition, path failures due to an offline node are masked from host multipathing.
Configuring call home
Ensure that call home is configured on the system to send notifications to the support center. Call home connects the system to support personnel who can monitor and respond to system events to ensure that your system remains up and running.
Configuring the system for iSCSI hosts
You need to complete several tasks to configure the system to work with iSCSI-attached hosts. The tasks include general tasks on the host system before you configure a system.
Configuring host objects
You can configure Fibre Channel, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), SAS, or iSCSI-attached hosts to a clustered system.
