Configuring vSwitches

You must configure the vSwitches on the VMware host before creating any virtual machines on the host.

Follow these steps to configure vSwitches:
  1. From the vSphere Client that you opened in Installing the VMware initiator software, select the Configuration tab.
  2. Click Networking.
  3. Click Add Networking.
  4. Click Virtual Machine and click Next.
  5. Click Create a Virtual Switch and click Next.
  6. Select a network interface that is running and is not in use by a vSwitch, and then click Finish.
A vSwitch is created within a network port group. All hosts that you create are attached to this network port group.
You must add a service console to this vSwitch to access the ESX server and provide the hosts with access to the external environment.

For information about creating a Guest OS, see your VMware documentation.
