Switch zoning for MSA2000 storage systems

Switch zoning configurations for the MSA2000 system include considerations for fabric zoning, target port sharing, host splitting, and controller splitting.

Fabric zoning

Each Lenovo Storage V series system switch zone must include at least one target port from each controller to have no single point of failure. This configuration means, for example, that the zone on the first fabric has Port 0 MSA Controller A with Port 1 of MSA Controller B and the Lenovo Storage V series system ports. The zone on the second fabric has Port 0 MSA Controller B and Port 1 MSA Controller A and the Lenovo Storage V series system ports. For more information about the Fibre Channel dual-fabric setup, see the relevant MSA documentation.

Target port sharing

Target ports cannot be shared between Lenovo Storage V series system and other hosts.

Host splitting

A single host must not be connected to Lenovo Storage V series system and an MSA2000 system simultaneously.

Controller splitting

MSA2000 system LUNs must be mapped only to the Lenovo Storage V series systemclustered system. The four target ports are all required for dual SAN-fabric connections and cannot be shared.
