Installing the Solaris iSCSI initiator

This section describes how to install the Solaris iSCSI initiator.

Confirm that the initiator service is installed by issuing this command:
pkginfo SUNWiscsiu SUNWiscsir

If the initiator service is not installed, follow the Solaris operating system instructions to install the service.

To install the Solaris iSCSI initiator, perform the following steps:

  1. Use the IP address with the iscsiadm add command to indicate which discovery address to use with the host and Storwize V5000 systemclustered-system connection.
    iscsiadm add discovery-address 192.168.1.97:3260

Issue this command for all Storwize V5000clustered-system Ethernet ports that you are using.

  2. If you are using the Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) server facility, issue the iscsiadm add iSNS-server command to locate the facility.
    iscsiadm add iSNS-server 10.0.0.1:3205
  3. Enable the iSCSI target discovery method with the iscsiadm modify discovery command.
    • For file-based discovery, the command uses this form:
      iscsiadm modify discovery --sendtargets enable
    • For iSNS discovery, the command uses this form:
      iscsiadm modify discovery --iSNS enable
  4. Create the iSCSI device links for the local system.
    devfsadm -i iscsi
  5. Use the following command to stop the I/Os from the iSCSI disks:
    iscsiadm remove discovery-address 192.168.1.22
