Multipathing configuration maximums for IBM i hosts

When you configure your hosts to support multipathing, remember the multipathing configuration maximums.

Multipathing configuration maximums for IBM i servers provides the configuration maximums for the Virtual I/O Server supporting an IBM i client that is attached to the system.
Table 1. Multipathing configuration maximums for IBM i servers
Object Maximum Description
Volume (HDisk) 512 The maximum number of volumes that the system can support for a host running an IBM i operating system (per host object).
Paths per volume 8 The maximum number of paths to each volume. The suggested number of paths is 4.1
Note: 1 Subsystem device driver path-control module (SDDPCM) for AIX supports 16 paths per volume, but the system supports a maximum of 8 paths in order to provide a reasonable path-failover time.
