Configuring the IBM Enterprise Storage Server

The IBMEnterprise Storage Server provides functions that are compatible withthe system.

Complete the following steps to configure the IBM Enterprise Storage Server:
  1. Enter the IP address of the IBM Enterprise Storage Server in a web browser to access the Enterprise Storage Server Specialist.
  2. Log in with your user name and password.
  3. Click ESS Specialist.
  4. Click Storage Allocation.
  5. Click Open System Storage.
  6. Click Modify Host Systems.
  7. Create a host entry for each initiator port on eachthe system node in your clustered system. Complete the following fields:
    1. Enter a unique name for each port in the Nickname field.
      For example, enter knode or lnode.
    2. Select IBM SAN Volume Controller in the Host Type field.
      If this option is not available, select RS/6000.
    3. Select Fibre Channel attached in the Host Attachment field.
    4. Leave the Hostname/IP address field blank.
    5. Select the WWPN from the list or enter it manually into the WWPN field.
      A configuration command fails if you use WWPN 0 in the command string.
  8. Click Perform Configuration Update after you are finished adding all of the ports.
  9. Click Add Volumes to add the volumes that you wantthe system to use.
    The Add Volumes pane is displayed.
  10. Complete the following steps in the Add Volumes pane:
    1. Select any of the system host ports that you created earlier.
    2. Select the necessary Enterprise Storage Server adapter to create the volumes.
    3. Click Next.
    4. Create volumes that use your wanted size, placement, and RAID level.
    5. Click Perform Configuration Update after you create all the volumes.
  11. Complete the following steps to map the volumes to all of your system ports:
    1. Click Modify Volume Assignments.
    2. Select all of the volumes that you created earlier.
    3. Click Assigning selected volumes to target hosts.
    4. Select all of the remaining system host ports that you created earlier.
    5. Click Perform Configuration Update.
    Important: If you are adding system ports to a volume that is already assigned to other system ports, you must select the Use same ID/LUN in source and target check box.
