SAS host interface adapter ports and indicators

You can install an optional 4-port SAS host interface adapter on a system node canister.

Allsystems can support the optional 4-port 12 Gbps SAS host interface adapter, as shown in Optional 12 Gbps SAS host interface adapter.

On Lenovo Storage V3700 V2 and Lenovo Storage V5030 systems, the 12 Gbps SAS host interface adapter must be installed to enable SAS host attachment I/O. Because Lenovo Storage V3700 V2 XP systems have two onboard SAS host ports, the 12 Gbps SAS host interface adapter is not required to enable SAS host attachment. However, the SAS host interface adapter can also be installed on Lenovo Storage V3700 V2 XP systems to provide SAS host connections.

SAS host interface adapter indicators

Each SAS port has an amber and green LED status indicator. Summary of LED indicators summarizes the possible values of the LED indicators.

LED Value Meaning
Amber (fault) On One of the following conditions has occurred:
  • One or more, but not all, of the 4 lanes are up. (If no lanes are up. the activity light will be off.)
  • One or more of the lanes is running at a different speed to the others.
  • One or more of the up lanes are attached to a different address to the others.
  • An unsupported device is plugged in to this SAS port.
Off No faults detected.
Green (link) On At least one of the lanes to that connector is up.
Off None of the SAS connections are working.
