Use the rmvolume command to remove a
volume. You can use this command
for high availability configurations that include HyperSwap®.
Syntax
rmvolume [ -removehostmappings ] [ removercrelationships ] [ -removefcmaps ] [ -discardimage ] [ -cancelbackup ] { volume_id | volume_name }
Parameters
- -removehostmappings
- (Optional) Allows a volume to be deleted even if host mappings
are removed if this volume is deleted.
- -removercrelationships
- (Optional) Allows a volume to be deleted even if it is part of
a remote copy relationship.
- -removefcmaps
- (Optional) Allows a volume to be deleted even if it is part of
a FlashCopy mapping and
regardless of the state of the mappings. FlashCopy mappings that are rc_controlled (for
change volumes) require this parameter to be specified to force the
deletion of a change volume while it is configured in a remote copy
relationship. However, it is recommended to remove the change volume
from the relationship before you delete it to avoid data loss. HyperSwap® volumes
with only the rc_controlledFlashCopy mappings for change volumes do not require this parameter to be specified.
- -discardimage
- (Optional) Allows a volume to be deleted even if data on an image
mode copy cannot be made consistent.
Important: Using this
parameter might result in data loss. Use it only under the direction
of your product support information, or if you are willing to accept
the risk of data loss on the volume.
- -cancelbackup
- (Optional) Allows a volume to be deleted even if a backup operation is in progress.

- volume_id | volume_name
- (Required) Specifies the volume to be removed.
Description
Use
the rmvolume command to remove a volume.
For a HyperSwap® volume,
the active-active relationship and the change volumes
are also deleted.
