If Access Logix is installed, you must register the system ports with an EMC CLARiiON controller.
The following prerequisites must be met before you can register
the
system ports with an EMC CLARiiON controller that has
Access Logix installed:
- The EMC CLARiiON controller is not connected to the system.
- You have a RAID controller with LUs and you identified the LUs
that you want to present to the system.
Each initiator port [worldwide port name (WWPN)] must
be registered against a host name and against a target port to which
access is granted. Refer to Table 1. If a host has
multiple initiator ports, multiple table entries with the same host
name are listed. If a host is allowed access by using multiple target
ports, multiple table entries are listed. For system hosts, register all WWPN entries with the same
host name.
Table 1 lists the associations:

- Connect the Fibre
Channel and zone the fabric as required.
- Issue the detectmdisk command-line interface
(CLI) command.
- Right-click on the storage system from the Enterprise
Storage window.
- Select Connectivity Status.
The Connectivity Status window is
displayed.
- Click New.
The Create Initiator Record window
is displayed.
- Wait for the list of system ports to appear in the dialog box. Use the WWPN
to identify them.
This process can take several minutes.
- Click Group Edit.
- Select all instances of all the system ports in the Available dialog box.
- Click the right arrow to move them to the selected box.
- Complete the HBA WWN field.
You must know the following information:
- WWNN of each system node in the clustered system
- WWPN of each port ID for each node on the system
The HBA WWN field is made up of the WWNN and the WWPN for the
system port. The following output is an example:
50:05:07:68:01:00:8B:D8:50:05:07:68:01:20:8B:D8
- Select A in the SP field, and 0 in the SP Port field.
- Select CLARiiON Open in the drop-down
list of the Initiator Type field.
- If the ArrayCommPath check box is selected, clear it.
- Select 2 in the drop-down list of
the Failover Mode field.
Attention: Failure to select failover mode 2 prevents
the system from being able to fail over I/O. If a single failure occurs,
your data might become unavailable.
- If this time is the first time that a port was registered,
ensure that you select the New Host option.
Otherwise, select Existing Host.
- Ensure that the same host name is entered for each port
that is registered.
- Select Array in the drop-down list
of the Unit Serial Number field.
- Assign a host name in the Host Name field.
- Click OK.
- Specify the IP address of your switch.
The EMC CLARiiON does not use this IP address. However, it must
be unique (within the EMC CLARiiON) to prevent errant behavior by
Navisphere.
- Repeat step 11 for all possible combinations.
The following example shows the different combinations of
a system with four ports:
- SP: A SP Port: 0
- SP: A SP Port: 1
- SP: B SP Port: 0
- SP: B SP Port: 1
- Repeat steps 1 to 19 to register the rest
of your system WWPNs.
All your WWPNs are registered against the host name that
you specified.
