Installing the VMware initiator software

Attach a VMware host to the system using iSCSI.

The system supports the use of the iSCSI-initiator software on VMware Version 4.0 ESX servers. Ensure that you have the latest release of the initiator software installed on your host before continuing with the instructions.

Complete the following steps to install the VMware initiator software:

  1. Click the VMware vSphere client to access the ESX 4.0 client.
  2. Enter the IP address of the ESX server with your user ID and password to log in to the system.
    A list of available operating systems is displayed.
  3. Configure the vSwitches.
Note: Using the default initiator SCSI settings is recommended.
The following functions are not currently supported:
  • Guest OS support
  • SAN boot support
