Removing the optical drive cable

Use this information to remove the optical drive cable.

1. Read the safety information that begins on Safety and Installation guidelines.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords.
3. Remove the top cover (see Removing the top cover).
4. Remove the fan cage assembly (see Removing the fan cage assembly).
5. Pull the connector toward the front of the server to remove the optical drive cable from the connector on the system board.

6. From the rear of the optical drive cage, 1 press and hold the connector latch (on the left of the cable connector). At the same time, 2 grasp the cable connector and slide it to the right. Remove the optical drive cable from the connector on the rear of the optical drive cage.

7. If you are instructed to return the optical drive cable, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
